Sewtropolis

Colorful, functional sewn pieces including zippered pouches, clothing, and seasonal items. Made with reclaimed and repurposed materials where possible.

Nikol Gianopoulos has been a quilter and sewist for most of her life. Fabric is her medium, color is her signature, and everything she makes is built to be used.

Sewtropolis is the result of a lifetime of that – colorful, functional, comfortable sewn pieces that range from zippered pouches to clothing. Nikol's signature style layers multiple monochromatic fabrics together in ways that are bold without being busy, and it shows up in everything from a small pouch to a full garment. She also works with reclaimed and repurposed materials whenever possible, because sustainability is part of the process, not an afterthought.

Nikol designs with the seasons in mind – cozy modified hoodies give way to breezy summer tops, shorts, and skirts as the weather turns, with colorful zippered pouches always in the mix year-round. Her best customers are usually women who sew themselves and know exactly what goes into making something well. They buy the things they know they could make but won't. That's the highest compliment.

When she's not sewing, Nikol is gardening, baking, or reading in a hammock. The work reflects all of it.
